Recovery of Private Jet, Liverpool John Lennon Airport

THE CHALLENGE

At 6am on December 11 2019, the owner of Liverpool Football Club’s private Bombardier BD-700-1A11 Global 6000 jet landed at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, overshooting the runway and skidding into a critical area.

None of the four people on board were hurt, but an emergency was declared, closing the airport, diverting incoming traffic to Manchester and delaying all outbound flights so that recovery could take place.

The grassy area where it had landed meant it was impossible to gain enough traction to drag the weight of the plane to move it to safety.

THE SOLUTION

Our engineered access team came to the rescue and designed the best possible solution to rescue the stricken plane safely and efficiently.

THE RESULTS

After several hours of deploying specialist plant and ground protection equipment the plane was safely recovered, and the airport returned to normal operations.
