Sunbelt Rentals supports Forests with Impact

blog 30 Oct 2024

Sunbelt Rentals is proud to announce our position as a founding and national partner with the award-winning social enterprise, Forests with Impact. Through innovative solutions like this, our team can support our planet by helping to address and tackle critical societal challenges.

This programme aligns with our sustainability strategy, Our Planet and our commitment to supporting local projects and providing employment opportunities for all to help our communities flourish and grow.

Forests With Impact operates commercial tree nurseries in a prison, providing essential training and opportunities to prisoners and will enable them to utilise their new skills in society.

The surplus revenue generated from these commercial tree nurseries is directly re-invested into a skills development programme, benefiting both prisoners and the local community. This threefold impact, directly supports:

  1. Environment: By promoting the growth of trees, we are actively supporting the fight against deforestation.
  2. Society: This approach addresses critical societal challenges by providing skills, training and sustainable employment pathway opportunities for prisoners and prison leavers, with the goal to reduce reoffending and provide prison leavers with future career opportunities.
  3. Economy: By investing in sustainable programmes like this, we are not only creating employment opportunities but also supporting the local economy. The surplus revenue generated will be directly reinvested to support future growth of local communities in surrounding areas of the prisons through its upskilling and training programmes.

We are committed to making a positive impact on our planet and through our partnership with Forests with Impact we’re able to do just that.

As a national partner, we work alongside other partners, sponsors, and suppliers to help actively shape the success of this social enterprise, with our collective contributions including expert guidance, volunteering expertise, and investing resources, skills, and funds.

The programme has been successfully launched at HMP Haverigg in Cumbria, England, and we look forward to playing a vital role in its expansion on a national level.
